Chapter 9

  Dherya's POV

"I was standing in the party hall, chatting with my friend Yashveer Singh Chauhan. He's quite the accomplished individual - the king of Udaipur and a successful businessman with multiple companies across India, New York, France, and Italy.")

"So, the king of Udaipur is finally tying the knot, but with a foreigner? Why?" I asked.

(Dherya abhi uski story aane hi wali hai padh lena tum bhi)

"Ah, it's a long story," Yashveer said, "but I'll save it for another time."

My attention suddenly shifted to the breathtaking woman standing before me. My breath caught in my throat as I took in her stunning appearance. She wore a gorgeous pink, full-length Anarkali dress that accentuated her timeless beauty.

Vanya stood at the bar counter, sipping her orange juice. I couldn't help but notice her, my gaze locked intensely onto hers.

She sensed my stare and turned to meet my eyes. Our gazes held, and we began walking towards each other, the space between us dwindling.

Now merely a step or two apart, our intense gazes still locked, the air thick with tension.

Then, shattering the spell, Vanya spoke in her sweet, melodious voice, "Hi."

Her greeting snapped me back to reality, releasing me from my captivated trance.

"Hey" I said with a soft smile.

"You're looking so beautiful." I complimented makeing her blush.

"Thank you", she said while tugging her hairs behind her hair.

You're alone here, no no I am with my parents.

Oka--- I was about say something while aloo jumped on her from behind.

"Vanyaaaaaaaa", aloo said while making her chuckle.Hii Alia she said while hugging her.

Vanya you look so pretty idk where maa and Chachi come saying this.

Thank you aunty.

"Beta, are you alone here?" Maa asked.

"No, no, Auntie, I'm with my parents," Vanya replied.

"Meet them - he's Dherya's father, and he's Alia and Shaurya's father. And he's Shaurya, Alia, and Dherya's brother." Maa introduced her with everyone.

Vanya touched the feet of papa and chachu and shook hands with Shaurya.

"So, you work with Dherya?" Papa asked.

"Yes, uncle," Vanya replied.

As Vanya chatted with my family, I couldn't help but stare at her. But my attention was interrupted by a couple approaching us.

"Vanya beta, what are you doing here?" the woman asked.

"Maa, this is my boss and his family," Vanya introduced, her voice laced with a hint of nervousness.

The family exchanged greetings, but I sensed something off. Vanya's parents were overly sweet, making her visibly uncomfortable.

Their exaggerated warmth seemed forced, and Vanya's unease was palpable. I wondered what was behind this strange dynamic.

"Her parents departed, and I seized the opportunity. I discreetly signaled to Vanya, suggesting we leave the group and find some solitude. She understood perfectly.

Before long, we were alone.

"Have you had dinner?" I asked.

Vanya shook her head.

"Come, let's dine together. It's already dinner time," I suggested.

She nodded hesitantly.

We took our seats, and a waiter promptly attended to us.

"Finally, we're alone now," I thought, savoring the moment.

As we waited for dessert, Vanya's gaze drifted around the room, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Your family seems really close-knit."

I nodded. "We are. We have our disagreements, but we always manage to work things out."

Vanya's eyes met mine, a hint of vulnerability in them.

"I wish my family was like that," she said softly.

My heart went out to her. "What's it like, being an only child?"

Vanya's shoulders shrugged. "Lonely, sometimes. My parents are...distracted."

I sensed a deeper story, but didn't press.

Dessert arrived, and Vanya's eyes lit up at the chocolate cake.

"Want to share?" I asked.

She nodded, our hands touching as we reached for the fork.

A spark of electricity ran through me.

"Sorry," Vanya whispered, pulling back.

"No need to apologize," I said softly.

Our eyes locked, and for a moment, the world around us melted away.

The emcee's voice filled the room once more. "Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to hit the dance floor! Please welcome our enthusiastic dancers!"

I turned to Vanya, my eyes sparkling with excitement. "Want to dance?"

She looked at me hesitantly, her cheeks flushing. Her shy gaze lingered on mine for a few seconds.

"Come on, Vanya," I coaxed, extending my hand.

Slowly, she placed her hand in mine. Her touch sent shivers down my spine. Her hands were soft, small, but perfectly fits in mine.

Without a word, I led her to the dance floor. The music began, and we swayed to the rhythm.

(Play the above song.)

As we danced, our bodies moved in harmony. Vanya's initial hesitation melted away, replaced by a radiant smile.

Our eyes locked, and I felt an undeniable connection.

We glided across the dance floor, lost in the music and each other's eyes. Vanya's shyness had given way to effortless grace.

As the song's tempo increased, our movements became more fluid. I spun her around, and she laughed, her hair swirling.

Our hands still clasped, I drew her closer. Her face tilted up, and our eyes met.

The music swelled, and we moved as one, our bodies swaying to the beat.

Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and the room was bathed in a soft, golden glow.

The song's final notes faded, and we slowed to a stop.

Applause filled the room, but I only heard Vanya's gentle breathing.

Our eyes remained locked, the connection between us palpable.

"Wow," she whispered.

I smiled. "You're an amazing dancer."

Vanya's cheeks flushed. "Thank you."

The emcee announced the next segment, but I didn't let go of her hand.

Vanya's mother approached, with a warm smile on her face. "Vanya beta, come, let's go home now."

Vanya nodded and turned to leave, but I held her hand firmly.

"I'll drop her home," I said, looking at Vanya's mother. "I need to introduce her to some of my business partners."

Vanya's mother hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay, but be careful."

Vanya's eyes met mine, a hint of surprise in them. I offered a reassuring smile.

"Let's go," I said, leading Vanya away from her mother.

As we walked, Vanya leaned in close. "Your business partners?"

I chuckled. "Just an excuse. I wanted to spend more time with you."

Vanya's cheeks flushed, but she smiled.

We exited the venue, and I guided her toward my car.

We settled into the car, and I began driving toward the highway.

"Where are we going?" Vanya asked hesitantly.

"For a long drive," I replied, glancing at her with a smile.

Vanya's eyes widened in surprise.

"What's wrong?" I asked, noticing her reaction.

She shook her head, remaining silent.

"Vanya, baby, answer me with words, okay? Otherwise, you'll get punished," I teased, trying to coax a response from her.

As we drove, Vanya remained silent, gazing out the window. I reached for her hand, and she looked at me with amusement.

I pulled over to the side of the road, parking in a quiet corner.

Vanya's questioning gaze met mine, but before she could ask, I leaned in.

My lips brushed against hers, softly.Respecting her boundaries, I paused, ensuring she was comfortable. To my delight, she didn't pull away.Encouraged, I gently sucked her upper lip.Seconds passed, and then Vanya's lips responded, kissing me back. Her fingers intertwined with my hair, pulling me closer.I wrapped my arms around her, lifting her onto my lap.Our kiss is deepened, intense and passionate.Five minutes passed, and we finally broke apart Breathless, we gazed into each other's eyes. The world around us melted away.
